Cells Dividing on Anisotropic Substrate

Substrate topography influences fundamental cell behaviors. Combined AFM height and fluorescent image of two cells undergoing mitosis on an anisotropic substrate of parallel ridges and grooves. The cells are observed dividing parallel with the substratum topography. The image has been rendered in 3D using Asylum Research's ARgyle software. 90 µm scan.
