Stable Imaging of Polymer Melt and Recrystallization Dynamics During Continuous Temperature Ramping on a Cypher ES AFM

This video demonstrates the exceptional performance and stability of the Cypher ES AFM during an experiment where a polymer blend was continuously heated from 60°C t140°and then cooled back down. Images were continuously captured with fast scanning at 10Hz line rate to observe the polymer melting and recrystallizing. The ES and VRS1250 models in the Cypher and Vero AFM families are designed from the ground up for exceptional environmental control. Their unique low-drift design and blueDrive photothermal excitation made it possible to capture images during the entire 4.5 hour duration even as the temperature wacontinuously ramped. No other AFMs in the world make it this simple to investigate thermally driven dynamic processes at the nanoscale.
