Please join us for this informative, free workshop hosted by the ISTerre Laboratory at Grenoble University. It is an excellent chance to catch up on the latest advances in AFM. Asylum Research will discuss recent AFM innovations including video-rate AFM with the Cypher VRS and the new Interferometric Detection System (IDS) option for Cypher AFMs that dramatically improves the reproducibility of piezoforce response microscopy (PFM).
Both days will feature a mix of introductory presentations by Asylum Research scientists, presentations by invited researchers, and hands-on AFM sessions featuring the Cypher VRS and the MFP-3D Origin+ AFMs.
Wednesday, September 5th : Material research: Electrical modes and PFM for semi-conductors and ferroelectrics applications
Piezoresponse force microscopy is a technique that can be used to characterize the electromechanical coupling underlying the functionality of many material systems, including piezoelectrics, ferroelectrics, and certain biological materials. This technique is relevant to both basic materials science research and a rich field of applied technologies such as semiconductors.
Thursday, September 6th : Soft materials, from Bio to Polymers
Atomic force microscopy allows researchers to characterize the topography and mechanical properties of biomaterials. The AFM can accurately measure surface roughness and microstructure as a function of composition and processing variables. Biomaterials can also be inspected after in vitro testing or after explanation to assess changes in surface features. A wide range of AFM techniques can be applied to quantitatively measure the stiffness, moduli, and dissipation of biomaterials.
Registration is free, but all attendees must register due to limited seating. Click the "Register Now" button to confirm your attendance. If you wish to bring your own samples to image during the hands-on sessions, you must contact Julien Lopez in advance to make arrangements.
