What Makes Vero AFMs Different?

What makes the Vero AFM different from most other AFMs?  Unlike conventional AFMs that must infer height from angular changes of the cantilever, the Vero AFM uses an interferometric detector to directly measure true vertical tip displacement.  In conventional AFMs, anything that causes angular changes of the cantilever, such as electrostatics, tip-sample friction, and in-plane forces, can be misinterpreted as real signal.  By measuring tip displacement directly, rather than cantilever angle, Vero's interferometric detection system eliminates these artifacts, delivering more accurate data than ever before.
